The Foundation Programme
E-portfolio

With effect from July 2012, the e-portfolio content has been updated to support the implementation of the FP Curriculum 2012

Getting the most out of your e-portfolio

All foundation doctors now have access to an electronic portfolio (e-portfolio). There are two e-portfolio providers used to deliver the Foundation Programme e-portfolio across the UK: NES and Horus. Currently, all foundation schools in the UK except North Western use NES. You will find the contact details below for any enquiries you may have regarding your e-portfolio:

NES: support@nhseportfolios.org

Horus: d.powley@NWpgmd.nhs.uk

Your foundation school will provide you with the information you need on how to access your portfolio such as website address, log-in details and password. The exact format of each e-portfolio may vary but they generally include the following sections:

  • Personal and Professional Development Plan (PDP)
  • Meetings with your educational and clinical supervisors
  • Assessments
  • Supervised Learning Events (SLEs)
  • Reflective reports and other evidence
  • ARCP

FP Curriculum 2012

NES & Horus e-portfolio key changes for August 2013

Building on the 2012 e-portfolio core content and forms, the FP Curriculum Delivery group invited all foundation e-portfolio users to recommend how improvements to core content, functionality and security of the e-portfolio could be made.

We trust that the agreed 2013 recommendations strike a balance between the need for continued user familiarity, whilst also responding to user requests to make the e-portfolio experience a less onerous task with minimal change and disruption to the end user.

Sample documents of all forms enhanced by 2013 changes can be found here.

On 24th July 2013, the Foundation School Director Committee requested additional guidance to explain the impact of ePortfolio changes for August 2013 in greater detail.
In response to this request, the UKFPO are delighted to offer the following specific guidance for key ePortfolio users.
