Academic recruitment in 2010

Please note: The period for recruitment into academic foundation programmes for 2010 is now closed. The process and timeline for applying is shown below for information purposes only and should not be used as an indication of how it will work in the future. Information on how to apply to academic foundation programmes for 2011 will be available in spring 2010.

Foundation schools began recruiting into academic foundation programmes for 2010 on Friday 8 May 2009 and will end on Monday 14 September 2009. Each foundation school will advertise their posts, receive applications and interview candidates at different times and some schools will be recruiting very early in this window.

Candidates are advised to check the web sites of the foundation schools which they are interested in applying to for advance information on academic recruitment at these schools.

This section contains important information for applicants; all potential applicants are advised to read this thoroughly before applying. There is also a list of all the Academic Programmes available in 2010 and a list of documentation relating to the recruitment process

Please note: Being eligible to apply for an Academic Foundation Programme means that you have met the essential eligibility criteria for the Foundation Programme. However, local recruitment partnerships may set additional criteria.

29 April 2009 Details of all academic foundation programmes posted on the UKFPO website
May 7 2009 UKFPO publishes details of the academic recruitment process; including local timelines and national eligibility checking process
8-26 June 2009 UKFPO undertakes academic eligibility checking
8 May-14 September 2009 Local academic recruitment period: application forms received; interviews held; offers made
10 July 2009 UKFPO will notify applicants of their eligibility status.
13-22 July 2009 Applicants can submit appeals regarding their academic eligibility status
10 August 2009 UKFPO will notify appellants of academic eligibility appeals decision
14 September 2009 Deadline for foundation schools to make offers
21 September 2009 Deadline for applicants to accept or decline offers
2 October 2009 UKFPO will post details of vacant academic posts on the UKFPO website if any are available.
9-20 November 2009 National clinical assessments take place
30 November 2009  Applicants notified of the results of the clinical assessments

*NB: Offers made before 10 July 2009 are conditional subject to the results of eligibility checking. Offers are also subject to successful completion of a clinical assessment (where appropriate).
