How to apply

Academic Foundation Programme 2016 (AFP) recruitment process

To apply for the Academic Foundation Programme, first you need to ensure you are eligible to apply. If you graduated (or are graduating) from a UK medical school after the 3 August 2014, your medical school will confirm your eligibility on your behalf. If you are graduating from a medical school outside of the UK, or graduated from a UK school prior to 3 August 2014, you will need to submit an eligibility application to the UKFPO. Go to the FP 2016 eligibility information page for more advice.

You will complete the same online application form as all other applicants, but there will be additional sections for your to complete. Depending on your chosen AUoA(s), you may be expected to upload a CV and up to six additional items to support your AFP application. You will also be expected to sit the SJT along with everyone else, but your score will not be used to allocate you to a AUoA - however all AFP offers are subject to a satisfactory SJT score.

For more information on the application process please read the FP/AFP 2016 Applicant's Handbook, application presentation and person specification. The UKFPO also produces a document which provides information on how many academic programmes are available at each AUoA, dates for interviews and a link to further information.
