UKFPO hosts two successful conferences plus MSB meeting

Published: 29/03/2009

The UKFPO recently hosted two successful conferences on the themes of integrated medical careers guidance and sharing best practice in academic foundation programmes. It also hosted a meeting of its Medical Student Board.
On Wednesday 18 March, nearly 100 medical school careers advisors, foundation school and deanery careers advisors gathered for the 'Bridging The Gap: Creating Consistent Careers Advice' conference. They discussed the best ways to provide a clear, consistent approach to careers advice for doctors from medical school, through foundation and into specialty training.
The 'Academic Foundation Programmes: Sharing Notable Practice' conference took place on  Tuesday 24 March and considered the challenges and opportunities for academic foundation programmes as part of the integrated academic training pathway. It also shared many examples of best practice within academic programmes. For more details on both these conferences, click here.
On Friday 27 March, the UKFPO's Medical Student Board met to discuss a range of topics including feedback from the 2009 application process. This in turn will be fed into the 'Recruitment 2009: Successes and Challenges' conference on Wednesday 8 April, 2009 in London. The aim of this conference is to bring together everyone involved in Foundation Programme recruitment to review the process in 2009 and discuss the next steps for 2010.
