Medical Students Board reps needed
The UKFPO is looking for representatives from each medical school in the UK to join its Medical Students Board. This group exists to bring the concerns of medical students to the UKFPO and for the reps to report back to their fellow students. The board meets twice a year and its next meeting takes place on Wednesday 17 September in London.

The board currently requires members from the following medical schools Birmingham, Cardiff, Durham, Glasgow, Keele, Leeds, Leicester, Liverpool, Newcastle, Sheffield, Southampton and St. Andrews. If you are currently a final year student at one of the above schools and are interested in becoming involved, please email john.mitchell@foundationprogramme.nhs.uk for more information on this role. The UKFPO will reimburse travel expenses for attending these twice-yearly meetings.

FP Recruitment 2009 timeline
The timeline for prospective applicants to the Foundation Programme 2009 has been published on the UKFPO website. Click here to view the full timeline. More information on the recruitment process, including advice on completing the questions, will be available in the Foundation Applicants Handbook which will be published on the website from 13 October 2008.

Confirming eligiblity
All prospective applicants to the Foundation Programme 2009 must confirm that they are eligible to apply. Students from medical schools outside the UK and all applicants who qualified before August 2008 must confirm their eligibility with the UK Foundation Programme Offices Eligibility Office by 5 September 2008. Medical schools in the UK will undertake this process on behalf of their final year medical students. Applicants who qualified before August 2007 will also be required to undertake a clinical skills assessment prior to being allocated to a foundation training place. More details on checking eligibility and on clinical skills assessments can be found at www.foundationprogramme.nhs.uk.

Special circumstances
Guidance and an application form for those wishing to apply to Foundation Programme 2009 for pre-allocation to a specific foundation school on the grounds of special circumstances were published on Thursday 21 August. Applications for special circumstances will be accepted until Wednesday 8 October 2008. Check the Guidance for Applicants at www.foundationprogramme.nhs.uk for details.
