UKFPO announces enough Foundation Programme places in 2010 for all eligible applicants

Published: 20/11/2009

The UK Foundation Programme Office (UKFPO) has confirmed that there are enough vacancies available for all fully eligible applicants to be allocated to Foundation Programme places beginning in August 2010.

The UKFPO has also confirmed that no contingency plan needs to be put in place for this recruitment round. Previously, the UKFPO published their plans indicating what would happen if there were more applicants than vacancies (oversubscription); and if there were fewer applicants than places (undersubscription). There is a very close match between the number of eligible applications and the number of vacancies.

All those applicants who are fully eligible will be allocated to a foundation school on 9 December. All remaining vacancies are then put into a second round where applicants who do not have the right to work in the UK, but who are otherwise eligible, will be allocated to foundation schools. A small number of these second round candidates will not obtain places on the programme as there are not enough vacancies for all non-EEA applicants who would require sponsorship to work in the UK.
