UK Foundation Programme Office e-update 2 November 2007

Published: 06/11/2007

Some of you havent been getting these updates as your email provider is blocking them as SPAM. You may need to add enquiries@foundationprogramme.nhs.uk into your email marked as a safe sender in order to get them. (We are posting this on the website for those of you who are wondering why we are telling people who we cant reach how to fix the problem!) This is a particular problem with email addresses ending in sgul.ac.uk.

We have lots of important bits of information for you this week.

  • Registering and enrolling
  • Authentication codes
  • Application form question one
  • Medical Student Board
  • Email addresses

Good luck to those of you completing your application this weekend and weve been asked to remind you not to wait until the last minute to submit it. (The deadline is next Friday, 9 November at midday.) For information, over 120 applications have already been submitted.

Registering and enrolling

There are still about 2000 students who have not yet registered and enrolled. It is better to get that done sooner rather than later in case you encounter any problems with enrolling.

If you have registered and havent received your authentication code, you can request for it to be re-sent by logging in to the website, going to the registration authentication page and clicking on the link which says If you have not received your authentication email and would like us to resend it, please click here. An email will be sent to your email address straight away.

You do not have to change your email address!!!

If you have been told by your medical school or deanery that you need to change your email address to something that is still valid after next summer, you don't! Once the recruitment round is finished in February, the system will not need to contact you again. If you really must change your email address, you can do so, but we would not advise it.

If possible, applicants should continue to use the email addresses they have agreed with their medical school - those that the medical school/deanery have set up on the system.

Question 1 Educational Achievements

In order to submit your application, you must enter some kind of text in each answer box. If you do not have any educational achievements in addition to your primary medical qualification, just put N/A or something similar down. Do not worry about this as many applicants will not have any achievement to add in this section, and they can still achieve good overall scores.

Medical student board

The first UKFPO Medical Student Board meeting was held this week, where representatives of nearly all the medical schools discussed the application process, the conclusions from the Tooke report and next years application process. We will be posting the list of reps on the website soon, along with the minutes of the meeting.

The medical student forum is live on the website, so post any comments you have there (www.foundationprogramme.nhs.uk). Over 200 people have registered so far.
