Special Circumstances Guidance & Forms Published

Published: 21/08/2008

Guidance on pre-allocation to a foundation school on the grounds of special circumstances&nbspis now available.

The Medical Schools Council, in partnership with the UK Foundation Programme Office, have published information on provisional pre-allocation to a foundation school on the grounds of special circumstances.

There are a small number of students entering their first year of foundation training who need extra support in ensuring that the geographical location of their training programme is manageable with existing care commitments for their children, or others dependent on them, as well as their own personal support needs. These students may be eligible to apply for pre-allocation to a foundation school on the grounds of their special circumstances.

The process by which students can apply for special circumstances has been revised. The criteria under which students may apply are very similar, but the documentation and the process have been changed to be more transparent and better defined. Click on the links below for the guidance and application form.

Medical students must submit their special circumstances application form, along with all supporting documentation, to their medical school by 8 October 2008.

Applicants should check with their medical school to which address the&nbspform and&nbspdocumentation should be sent.
