Final Applicants Placed

The UK Foundation Programme Office (UKFPO) announced that the final 65 applicants on the reserve list were all allocated to foundation schools on 26 May. These applicants will begin their foundation programmes in August 2011.
This was the second batch allocation which formed part of the contingency plan for oversubscription, announced by the UKFPO in November 2010. At that time, it was predicted that there would be more fully eligible applicants than vacancies available. On 8 December 2011, the UKFPO confirmed that 180 applicants would be placed on a reserve list to be allocated in batches, on set dates, as vacancies arose. It was originally predicted that all reserve list applicants would be placed by early July.
Professor Derek Gallen, National Director of the UKFPO, said:
“I am extremely pleased that the remaining reserve list applicants have been placed so early on in the allocation process. We had hoped to place everyone by early July but it is excellent news that we've been able to do so much earlier. This is especially good news for these applicants, as they will now know where they’ll be working much sooner than originally thought.”
Postgraduate deaneries and foundation schools will now make decisions locally regarding how to fill any vacancies that arise between now and August.
