CMT recruitment process announced

The Royal College of Physicians has finalised arrangements for the Core Medical Training (CMT) recruitment process 2009. This is a national initiative approved by the MMC Programme Board. Details are now available on the dedicated website www.cmtrecruitment.org.uk.
From there applicants will be able to access all relevant documents and see up-to-date news and FAQs in advance of applying. The online application process goes live at 9am on Monday 5 January 2009 and offers a number of improvements, including:
- A reliable, secure, user-friendly (Deanery, Consultants and junior doctors) IT system, which has a familiar appearance to Microsoft users
- An application tracking facility
- A single application ultimately allowing access to vacant CT1 posts in all English deaneries
- Online appointment booking, avoiding clashes of interview times and misplaced correspondence
- The possibility of using objective tests to replace short listing in future years

Applications open: 5 January, close at noon on 16 January 2009
CPS Test: 21 February 200Interviews: 2-27 March 2009
Offers: Begin within 2-3 days of interview by Deanery.
Coordinated offers window closes: 28 April 2009 (to be confirmed)
